Glenn Loovens has been granted his wish of a new Hillsborough contract.
He has signed for the rest of the season after his initial, one-month deal ran out on Sunday, when the Owls played at Charlton.
It clears the way for the Dutch centre half to keep his place for tomorrow’s home match against Blackpool.
Loovens was signed by Dave Jones before the away game against Blackpool last month but a wait for international clearance from the Spanish FA meant he did not make his debut until the win against Leicester on the following Tuesday, Stuart Gray’s first game in charge.
The 30-year-old former Feyenoord, Cardiff and Celtic defender has played five games for the Owls. He was a free agent after leaving Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
He told The Star earlier this month that he would like to extend his Hillsborough stay.
