MICHAIL Antonio is fancying a return to Hillsborough next season after relishing his key role in the Owls’ promotion to the Championship.

“I have enjoyed every single minute,” he told The Star.

He must wait to see what his club, Reading - who are newly promoted to Premier League - want to do after letting him spend the last 10 weeks of the campaign out on loan.

“Right now I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m probably going to back to Reading for pre-season, but anything can happen in the summer,” said the winger.

“I could be in their 25-man squad, or I could be somewhere else.”

A return to Hillsborough appeals to him: “I have enjoyed my time here; I could never say ‘no’. The fans have taken to me and I have taken to the club.”

Wednesday’s stance will also be a factor, with them just beginning to assess funds and make plans to strengthen the squad.

Boss Dave Jones has said that loan players’ clubs are in the driving seat.

Antonio added: “I came here to play games - I’ve played in 14 games and had 90 minutes in most of them; it’s given me confidence and I’ve got goals and done well.”

Among his five for Wednesday were his injury-time strike against Carlisle, which earned a hugely significant 2-1 win last month, and the opener in the promotion-clinching victory against Wycombe at Hillsborough last Saturday.

“There was so much pressure on us to win that game,” he says. “For me to get the goal so we could settle down and play our football, it felt so good.”

The 22-year-old has thrilled fans with exciting wing play as well as his goals. He also scored four while on loan at Colchester. He says confidence has underpinned his success: “When I go out there I just tell myself I’m the best on the pitch; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I believe in my ability.”
