Sam Hutchinson insists he does not worry about injuries despite his past problems.

The versatile midfielder was restricted to just 20 matches last season due to injury and even retired from the game at the age of 21 due to a reoccurring knee problem.

But, after being withdrawn against Middlesbrough on Monday night after suffering a knock, he says he has learned not to give too much thought to injuries.

“I don’t worry about injuries and I don’t think I would have been able to come back from retirement if I did worry,” he said.

“I’ve had this current issue for three weeks. I just have to manage it.

“I’m one of these players that will play with anything until it gets to a point where it’s going to put me out for a long time or I can’t run any more.

Hutchinson is playing the waiting game over selection to face Fulham on Saturday.

But the 26-year-old has shrugged off suggestions the latest issue is a reoccurrence of his knee problem.

He said: “It’s ridiculous because my knees have been feeling great.

“It’s a slight back problem, going into my groin a little bit.

“I’ve played 21 or 22 games and you get these little niggles now and again.

“It’s unfortunate for me I’ve got one at the moment but we’ll see what happens at the weekend.”
