Portuguese left back Rafael Floro has been confirmed as a member of the Sheffield Wednesday set-up.

He is a 19-year-old from Porto who made his public debut for the Owls in last night’s 3-0 win at Stockport.

Manager Dave Jones said: “There’s not a great deal I can say about him until we get clearance through. But he’s not a bad little player.

“He’s one of the youth development, young pros we’ve got in. We’ll have a couple more in by the start of the season, on the development side.”

Another player who went on as a sub in the second half in a numberless shirt was described by Jones as a professional player who is a friend of Reda Johnson, and played at Reda’s request.

The Owls gave him a brief appearance in the relaxed atmosphere of the Rodger Wylde testimonial game but are not out to sign him.

Chris Waddle and David Hirst also went on as subs near the end, as planned.

Jacques Maghoma, playing as a striker with Michail Antonio, took the eye with his pace and skill but went off in the last few moments of the first half with an ankle niggle suffered when he was brought down by the keeper and the Owls were awarded a penalty as a result.

Jones said: “It’s just unfortunate that he rolled his ankle. He could have had a had hat-trick. The keeper landed on him after he’d gone round him.”

The forward had his ankle place in an immobilisation boot as a precaution and will be checked today. Michail Antonio, Martin Taylor and a Chris Maguire spot kick produced last night’s goals.

Jones was pleased with the work-out: “We’re just working on passing an movement at the moment and players have got more minutes under their belt.”

Owls midfielder Rhys McCabe paid tribute to the Owls fans on Twitter. He posted: “Great turnout from the fans tonight !!.”

Paul Corry posted: “Good run out tonight, nice to get 45 mins under the belt and a chance to play with a few legends..Waddle still got it!
