In-form midfielder Kieran Lee admits the squad “love playing” for Owls caretaker boss Stuart Gray and has stressed they want him to be appointed as manager.
“Stu has brought belief back,” said Lee. “He has got all the players believing in themselves. I don’t think that was there before and that comes with the results. I think all the fans are behind Stuart.
“He has got everyone playing well and the results have improved so we will see what happens. I think everyone who has been asked about it has said they would love Stu to be in charge but we are not the ones who decide that.
“People have always felt comfortable speaking to him. He is lively and he brings enthusiasm to the boys. All the boys love playing for Stu.”
Skipper Reda Johnson may miss Saturday’s trip to second-placed Burnley after sustaining a groin injury in the midweek win over Macclesfield in the FA Cup.
Lee added: “It will be a tough game. They are flying near the top but we will go into that game believing we can win it.”
