Chris Maguire says there is no concern among the Wednesday players after their goalscoring problems returned in earnest against Wolves last weekend.

The striker dismissed suggestions the frustrating defeat was a reality check that the Owls’ issues still remain despite back-to-back wins in the previous two games.

And he insists there is a great deal of confidence in the squad that the goals will come as long as they continue to create chances.

“I don’t think that things aren’t sorted out for us,” Maguire told the Star.

“We had loads of chances and just couldn’t score. Wolves had that one chance and did.

“Sometimes that’s just how it goes in football.

“Everyone watching knows it was us that should have come away with the three points.

“We’re not concerned.

“After the game you could have heard a pin drop in the dressing room because everyone was deflated that we didn’t win.

“But the mood was back to normal in training. We keep going and there’s another game this weekend.

“If we go to Fulham with the right manner and with the way our away performances have been going, then we can get the result.”

Maguire is targeting a strong festive run for the Owls, starting today at Craven Cottage, to push them back towards the top six heading into the New Year.

He said: “We’ll got for the win on Saturday and there’s a few games over the festive period so we can climb the league again.”
