Sheffield Wednesday have secured the season-long loan of Switzerland under 21 international Andelko Savic from Sampdoria.
The striker, aged 20, began his career at youth level with FC Basel before making the switch to the Italian Serie A in 2011.
He has represented Switzerland at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 level, and rose up through the ranks at Sampdoria and made his Serie A debut in January of this year.
Savic said: “I am very happy to come to Sheffield Wednesday, this is a very big club and a very big opportunity for me.
“I am a big admirer of English football, it is very different from over in Italy, it is much more physical but I like it here.
“I am really looking forward to getting started. I am enjoying the training, there are some very good players here, good coaches and a good manager and I want to show everyone what I can do.”
The Owls now await Savic’s international clearance before he can be considered for first team action.
