David Prutton has signed a new one-year deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
Prutton, aged 31, was among a number of players offered a new contract by manager Dave Jones and with pre-season training beginning at Middlewood Road on Thursday he has committed his future to the club until the summer of 2014.
Signed by Gary Megson he joined Wednesday in May 2011 and made 28 appearances in the Owls promotion-winning season to the Championship.
After a spell on loan at Scunthorpe last season, where he made 15 appearances for the Iron and proved popular with fans at Glanford Park, he returned to Hillsborough in December 2012 and enjoyed an excellent spell at the heart of the team.
He played 23 times last season.
