Former Wednesday left back Daniel Jones is looking for the eighth club of his career after his sacking by Port Vale.

When the 27-year-old left Hillsborough in the January transfer window of 2013 he was looking forward to a fresh start.

Wednesday team-mates will be surprised about the circumstances in which his Vale stay has ended.

Jones had no history of being involved in controversy at the time he was signed on a free by Alan Irvine from Wolves in the summer of 2010, and his Hillsborough stay threw up nothing out of the ordinary.

But it is claimed that he was the other Vale player involved in training-ground bust-up that left captain Doug Loft with serious facial injuries.

Jones was kept out of the Owls left-back spot by Reda Johnson and Joe Mattock. He said when he left: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Sheffield Wednesday. I haven’t played as many games as I would I have liked and I am ready for a new challenge.”
