Sam Hutchinson is challenging for a full debut in the Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield tomorrow after making an instant impact for the Owls in a surprise role.
The 24-year-old who is on loan from Chelsea has emerged as a contender for the midfield spot left by the injured Kieran Lee.
Hutchinson was recognised as a centre half or right back at the time he was brought in by Stuart Gray last week.
But he impressed as a tenacious midfield player after being sent on as a sub in the Derby game on Tuesday - living up to Gray’s description of him as someone who is versatile.
The Owls chief told The Star: “I felt he was unlucky to get booked, I think the Wednesday fans saw a fully committed lad who was willing to put his foot in for the cause.
“He’s come in and give us a lift; all the signings have given us a lift
“He can play in different positions, which will probably help us over these two games.”
Hutchinson is not cup-tied so is eligible for the clash with Charlton.
Gray said: “We’ll be ready for Saturday and we’ll be ready for Monday.”
