An appeal against Jose Semedo’s sending-off at Bolton last Saturday has been rejected.
The Owls midfield player must serve a three-match ban, starting with this weekend’s derby at Barnsley.
Dave Jones regarded Semedo’s tackle on Bolton’s Jay Spearing as fair and hoped that Premier League referee Chris Foy would have second thoughts.
The Owls boss said that Semedo was distraught after getting the red card.
Chris Kirkland also spoke up in the midfielder’s defence.
But Bolton boss Dougie Freedman claimed the challenge was dangerous.
Semedo will also miss the home match against Reading and the away game against Derby.
