OWLS midfield ace Jose Semedo goes in pursuit of a dream when he faces his old club Charlton for the first time tonight.

Semedo, a Hillsborough hit currently and the Addicks’ Player of the Year last season, wants both clubs to win promotion.

The Owls’ summer signing also relishes a Valley reunion with old friends but will not hold back from his usual tough-tackling style when the action starts. “That’s my job,” he said. “I had a fantastic time there. I think I had done my job there. I am still playing for a big club,”

Manager Chris Powell wanted him to stay but he turned down Charlton’s offer of a new contract.

He says it is “fingers crossed” for a good season for both clubs but League One is more competitive than ever.

“There is a long way to go and it’s going to be even more difficult than last season,” he said. “There are more good teams. I hope Sheffield Wednesday will be one of the teams going up. Charlton as well? Why not. If we both did it, that would be a dream.”

As Wednesday bid to end a run of four away defeats, tonight’s televised clash is set to see a debut for new striker Ryan Lowe, perhaps alongside Gary Madine,

Chris Lines is in contention for a midfield return, with Liam Palmer on Scotland Under-21 duty.
