Owls striker Steven Fletcher is in contention to play against Cardiff City tomorrow night.
The Scotland international, who has netted three times since moving to Hillsborough last summer, was a notable absentee from Sunday’s victory over Huddersfield Town.
It is believed Fletcher’s wife went into labour over the weekend and gave birth to a girl.
Speaking at his press briefing today, head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “Fletcher trained yesterday. Things are better.
“We haven’t talked to the players yet and we will make decisions today about the game tomorrow.”
Tomorrow’s Championship tussle will come too soon for Lucas Joao. The forward has not featured since August 27 because of a groin problem.
Carvalhal said: “He’s training with a few limitations. He has a small pain. We expect him to be back soon in the team.”
The Owls, lying in seventh position, have no new injuries to contend with as they chase a third consecutive victory on the road.
“We believe in the team and the process,” stressed Carvalhal. “We know what we are doing.
“We know this competition is very hard and all teams can beat each other.”
