Tom Lees says the Sheffield Wednesday squad were delighted to see head coach Carlos Carvalhal rewarded with a contract extension.
The Portuguese agreed with chairman Dejphon Chansiri to extend his initial one year deal with Wednesday earlier this week.
And centre half Lees says Carvalhal is fully deserving of a longer deal after guiding the Owls to the brink of securing a play-off place.
“We are pleased,” Lees said. “We have enjoyed working with him.
“It’s been a good season. He’s a good manager to work for and we all enjoy coming into training.
“It’s nice for him to have that stability.
“I think I can speak for everyone in the dressing room, we enjoy playing for him and working for him.”
Carvalhal had been linked with moves away from Hillsborough with speculation suggesting interest from Premier League side Swansea City and clubs in his native Portugal.
Lees believes the new deal provides stability and a lack of distraction not only for Carvalhal but his team mates also.
He said: “It’s just focused everyone.
“There are no distractions now. We all know we are here to achieve something and hopefully create something special this season.”
