Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones hopes he will be given more time to arrest their slump in fortunes, writes Dom Howson.
The pressure is mounting on Jones following Saturday’s defeat to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.
“I would hope I am (given more time),” said Jones in the wake of their 2-1 loss to the Terriers. “I don’t see why I should keep having to bring up my record (as a manager).
“It’s there and it cannot be shot at. This season it’s hard fight and it’s not a nice situation to be in, but I’m not going to give up and walk away.
“I’m made of stronger stuff and I need the players to understand that so they can fight and scrap their way out of it.
“If you keep changing people, you’ve got to ask why? It’s still going to be the same players and the same stadium.
“We have a block when we play here, but if you start slaughtering the players you lose them and we need them to be big and brave.”
