Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal reflected on a game he said the Owls could have won after watching his side fall to a 3-1 defeat to Burnley.

Atdhe Nuhiu cancelled out David Jones' opener but substitute Matthew Taylor and home debutant Andre Gray earned a 3-1 success for the Clarets in an entertaining game at Turf Moor.

But Carvalhal felt his side were worthy of all collecting all three points from a game where Daniel Pudil impressed on his debut.

"If you ask me if I'm happy with the draw, probably I would say I'm a little upset with the draw," Carvalhal said.

"But the reality is that we lost a match that we played very well and we created a lot of chances. I believe everyone in the stadium, in a big period of the second half, was waiting for the second goal of Sheffield Wednesday. But this is football.

"The quality of the game was very good. We missed some chances so we must do better in efficiency and of course we must correct the defensive mistakes that we did and we can't do these kind of defensive mistakes.

"We started the game very well, the first time that Burnley go to our goal with the free-kick, they score.

"In the second half we played much more offensively in midfield. We missed clear chances to score but in the one or two mistakes that we did, Burnley got the goals."

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said: "In the first half I didn't think there was much in it, we had a couple of great chances, which we didn't capitalise on and in the first 20 minutes of the second half I thought they were very good and they made us work for what we had and they got our organisation off kilter.
