DANNY Harrison and Tom Newey were the major figures to be released when Rotherham United manager Steve Evans announced his retained list yesterday.
They were among six players shown the door whilst a seventh, Paul Warne, has retired from playing but remains on the club’s coaching staff.
The list confirmed the departures of Marcus Marshall, Luke Foster and Ollie Banks whilst Richard Naylor had been released last week.
In addition, Evans has made two contracted players available in central defender Michael Raynes and goalkeeper Jamie Annerson who has been out all season after suffering from a leg problem.
Mark Bradley, who was out of contract, has a one-year deal. He arrived as a midfielder two years ago but has figured in centre defence and in both full back positions.
Midfielder Harrison was one of the club’s longest serving players along with Andy Warrington and Dale Tonge, having arrived in 2007 at the start of the final season at Millmoor.
He made 208 appearances in all and had been a regular this season and missed only one game until the defeat at Oxford in mid-March. Since then he had been a substitute.
