Rotherham United are to approach Norwich City in the hope of extending the loan spell of dangerman Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe.
The 26-year-old midfielder was named man of the match on his home debut after two away games and scored a penalty in the Millers’ 2-1 win over Cardiff City on Saturday.
Manager Steve Evans is keen to keep the Belgian international who joined on an initial one-month deal from parent club the Canaries.
“It’s up to (Norwich boss) Alex Neil, isn’t it?” he said. “Of course I’ll ask the question. Vadis is an outstanding footballer. He’s a young man who’s loving being here.”
Evans, who is good friends with Neil after the pair met on their UEFA B Licence coaching course, says Odjidja-Ofoe is available for next Saturday’s clash at Birmingham and the televised home game with Burnley the following Friday night before a decision has to be made.
Odjidja-Ofoe, who has six caps, said: “It’s good for me to play games. I feel really well. My body is feeling really good.
“I think it isn’t easy if you haven’t played a lot to play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday. But my body is responding very well.
“I knew I had a good pre-season so I’m finding my best level. Game by game, it’s going better and better.
“I feel happy that I can help the manager who brought me here and we will see what the future brings. Everybody has to sit around the table and we have to discuss what’s happening and how it’s going.”
Evans, who is still in the market for a couple of loan players, spoke of his relief after his side had recorded their first Championship win of the season at the eighth time of asking.
“Has it been a monkey on my back? I felt like a had a monkey up my jumper,” he said. “The win has been coming for me.
“We went to Forest and scratched our heads when we came away with nothing, we were outstanding at QPR in the early part of the game. We should have put them to the sword and didn’t.
“We’ve always said we need to get the right personnel on the pitch. We need to to be able to work with them. We’re not 100 per cent there yet.
“We’re still trying to add one or two players that will give us the right personnel.”
