Midfield star Ben Pringle is demanding more from himself as he targets a top-half finish in the Championship for Rotherham United.
The Millers return to action after the international break with a match at AFC Bournemouth tomorrow, having made an enouraging start to life in the second tier.
Pringle said: “Top half, definitely we can aim for that.
I think everyone realises that when we’re on our game and when we’re clinical and taking chances we’re too good to be anywhere near the bottom or to get relegated.”
But the man who made the League One Team of the Season last year believes he has yet to find his best form in the Championship.
“I’m not really pleased with how I’ve taken to it,” he admitted.
“Obviously I’m happy to have scored the goal (the winner at Millwall) but whereas last season I was getting in seven, eight, nine crosses a game I think I’ve got in about two in five this season.
“It’s a bit frustrating for me personally, but the other side of the game, the defensive side, I’ve been happy with.
“The defenders are better and if we give the ball way there are teams that will keep it from us for 20 minutes and we’re running round trying to get it back.”
He added: “I’d say we can finish around midtable. Just consolidate and see where we go from there. Anything higher than that it’s a bonus.
“It’s good to have the break. There are a lot of games in the first month/five weeks.”
