Defender Joe Skarz says the renowned fighting qualities which have seen Rotherham United win back-to-back promotions are inspired by manager Steve Evans.
“The team spirit comes from the top,” the 24-year-old left-back revealed.
“When Steve Evans brings in players, they have to have the right character. They have to fit in with the dressing room and the backroom staff.”
The Millers are looking forward to Championship football after sealing their latest promotion in the League One Play-off Final against Leyton Orient at Wembley.
Last season’s push was characterised by a series of relentless second-half displays which culminated in late goals.
Skarz added: “All the lads enjoy working together.
“We train together every day and we socialise together. Things like the paintballing day before the play-of final really help as well.
“Yes, we h ave our arguments from time to time, but there are no big-time Charlies at this club.
“Everyone has a will to win and hates losing.”
Meanwhile, the club have revealed that season-ticket sales are now approaching the 6,000 mark.
