Emotional boss Ryan Hindley dedicated Hallam’s victory over Sheffield FC in the World’s First Derby, on Tuesday evening, to the memory of Brian and Judy Bradley.

Hallam triumphed 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the game, just four days after Brian and Judy were killed in a car accident on the M1.

The couple’s two daughters, Jane and Jill, led the two sides out before the couple were honoured by a minute’s applause.

“The beginning of the game was extremely emotional,” Hindley told Grass Roots, “with Brian and Judy’s family in attendance.

“I would like to dedicate the win to Brian and Judy, and to the hard-working committee here at Hallam.

“It may not be a recognised trophy but it means the world to us.”

Hallam and Sheffield FC is a derby which dates back to Boxing Day 1860. The two play each other every year, contesting the Alan Cooper Memorial Trophy.

Meanwhile, Hindley has appointed Stuart Lowe as his assistant manager.

Andy Brownrigg, who had been helping out on the management team last season, has now left the club, while Rob Ward remains as an integral part of the new-look management team.

Lowe, who left his post as first team coach at Parkgate, is no stranger to Sandygate having previously played for the Countrymen and also had a spell as caretaker boss.

Hindley said: “Stuart will be a good calming influence on me.

“He is someone I respect massively as a man and a player. I’m sure he will be a huge influence on us as a team and me as a manager.

“We are very lucky to have Stuart, he has unfinished business at Hallam so hopefully, together, we can achieve success.”

Meanwhile, NCEL Premier side Parkgate are looking to appoint an assistant manager to work alongside boss Steve Adams.
