CHESTERFIELD suffered their first home defeat in a match which marked the debut of Luis Boa Morte.

Three rapid corners were earned by the hosts, Trotman heading just over from the third flag-kick.

Gayle hooked a shot wide and Elito crossed low as the home side struggled to find any early shape.

Back-to-back left-sided corners for Chesterfield caused defensive consternation but Daggers defended stoutly and the visitors could have taken the lead when Gayle headed over from an Ogogo cross.

Westcarr hit very high as Spireites continued to struggle against a hard working rearguard and a tricky attack, that saw Forbes have to block from Gayle.

Dagenham were enjoying the better of the play and went ahead in the 42nd minute.

The ball was loose on the box edge and WILLIAMS hit low into the bottom corner of O’Donnell’s goal.

Togwell took a nasty looking knock and had to receive treatment after he broke forward, trying to drive his side on, but he was able to continue soon after.

Daggers started the second half on the attack, winning a corner but Forbes cleared. Spillane hammered one just over as the visitors seemed happy to attack rather than protect their slender advantage.

Togwell and Talbot both saw crosses intercepted and Spireites won a corner that saw a Trotman shot blocked and Atkinson’s effort from the rebound clipped the top of the bar and in the next attack, Trotman headed wide in what was Chesterfield’s best spell of the game.

Talbot and O’Donnell had a misunderstanding but Elito couldn’t take advantage before Talbot fed Lester and his angle shot was parried by the keeper for another corner. The second phase of the corner saw Ridehalgh pick out Westcarr and his driven shot hit the shins of LESTER to level on 55.

Gayle and Elito both found space in the box, Chesterfield’s defence were unable to clear sufficiently and the ball fell for WILLIAMS to shoot into the roof of the net to register his first ever senior brace just two minutes after Spireites’ equaliser.

Williams forced O’Donnell to save from 18 yards and Saunders hit high as Daggers continued to push on.

Darikwa came on for Trotman, Hird moved into defence as the hosts went 4-4-2. Immediately Boa Morte fed Ridehalgh and his cross found the head of Lester and it needed Doe to clear off the line and Atkinson’s shot from the rebound was blocked.

Westcarr got a toe on Boa Morte’s cross but he managed only to find the keeper and the same two combined again, though this time it was the other way round and Lewington made a great save to block the Portuguese’s volley.

Togwell, who took a knock earlier, had to leave the field with an injury, Randall replaced. Chesterfield were seeing the bulk of the ball with Dagenham playing on the counter-attack.

Boa Morte won a corner tha saw Forbes denied by the keeper and Boa Morte crossed high after the next flag-kick was taken short. Boden came on for Westcarr for Spireites final change.
