BLADES fans are united in the belief they must not let the crown jewels go next month.

Harry Maguire, Matt Lowton and George Long have all been linked with moves away from Bramall Lane during the January sales.

But the club’s supporters are praying they don’t cash in on their prised assets.

manorblade, on thestar.co.uk, posted: “It seems pointless to invest in the youth team, nurture them, bring them into the team then at the first sign of interest, sell them on for a fraction of their true worth. It just short changes the club and fans who love to see home grown players in a Blades shirt for as long as possible .

TXBlade added: “Hopefully Kevin McCabe will see that keeping the nucleus of the squad together is our best and probably only hope of escaping League One.”

However, soldierblade, admitted: “Think we all have to smell the coffee if we think that our top players, especially the big earners, will remain at United if any Premier League or Championship team comes in with a ‘monster offer’.”

On the other side of the city, Sheffield Wednesday are aiming to get back to winning ways against Preston North End this afternoon.

wednesday boy said: “Lets hope Wednesday can turn things around at Preston. We definitely need Stephen Bywater back and hopefully Ben Marshall come the January transfer window and we could do with Rob Jones back. Lets hope Mr Mandaric can bring us all something to cheer about come the end of the season.”
