Sheffield Hallam men’s hockey enjoyed a reasonably successful weekend, with four of their six sides in action recording victories.
The second team beat bottom club Stockton 4-1, thanks to goals from Ben Hyatt, Harry Williams, Chris Walkin and Nick Sims, and moved up to fifth in North Division One.
Their hopes of a top-two finish are all but over, however, with second-placed Gateshead eleven points clear with ten games left.
Hallam play Leeds this week (1.30pm at Abbeydale Park) and will relish the thought of three points against a struggling Leeds side.
Hallam’s third team hammered Grimsby 7-1, thanks to four goals from Chris Debney and an impressive hat-trick from Will Lacey.
This week they travel to mid-table Bradford.
The fourth side endured more misery with a 6-0 loss against Ben Rhydding, and have an away double-header this weekend against Driffield and York University.
Hallam’s fifth side beat fourth-placed Leeds 5-1, and the sixths also beat Leeds 4-0 to keep up the pressure on Division Five South leaders Slazengers.
Dunn with two and Harrison with one led the way in the goal scoring, ably supported by Yeardley.
The men’s seventh side went down 1-0 to Grimsby.
This weekend, they host third-placed Lincoln at Abbeydale.
