AWARDS at the double for Hallamshire Squash Club.
It has been named as the Development Squash and Racketball Club of the Year both for the North East region and at National level.
The double accolade is in recognition of Hallamshire's efforts in all areas of squash and racketball over the past year, including commitment to sustained success in player and coach development.
English Squash Regional Manager Mark Shipley presented the regional award to head coach John Mullins on Monday while the National award will be handed over to the club at the World Squash Championships in Manchester on October 18.
Mullins said: "We're delighted that our commitment to the development of squash and racketball has been recognised. I'm proud to be involved with a progressive club who have backed me in promoting squash and racketball in the community."
Over 2000 junior players were introduced to squash through Lottery funded and School links projects last year which were part funded by Hallamshire.
The club also runs after-school courses and funds junior players to become coaches. There are also many adult activities including introductory sessions for both sports.
