Hatters close-in on title glory

The League title is now Health365 Hatters to lose.

They consolidated their position at the top of National Division One with a thumping 102-49 victory at Barking Abbey Leopards and with second place UWIC’s defeat at third place Nottingham Wildcats it means Hatters now hold a two point lead with a game in hand.

With new addition Kisha Lee settling in well on her debut, Vanessa Ellis’ side dominated throughout as they built up a 55-28 half time lead which they extended to 72-39 by the end of the third quarter.

Sarah Naylor and Stephanie Gandy top-scored with 26 and 25 points respectively.

The second team enjoyed a maximum points return after beating the bottom two teams in Division Two North. They ran out 96-41 winners over Team Northumbria Eagles in the first part of their double-header and then hit the 96 points mark a second time with just 16 against in their victory over Ilkeston Outlaws.

The Under-16s ended their home league campaign in style with a 68-38 defeat of National League North rivals Sefton Stars.
