The City of Sheffield Hatters begin their home Division One Women league campaign on Saturday against Cardiff Archers (4pm).
The Hatters opened up their season with a trip to Northumbria earlier this month, winning 73-65 thanks to 27 points from Helen Naylor.
Hatters will travel to Huddersfield Heat in the second round of the Womens National Cup on October 27.
Hatters’ youth teams had good results last weekend, with the club’s U18s winning 81-26 away at Cheshire.
Hatters were strong and industrious in their high intensity defending, frustrating Cheshire’s attacks time after time.
“The skill of the individual Hatters blended smoothly to make a most impressive performance, and the team ethos was a key part in winning the game,” Hatters’ Sarah McQueen said. “The convincing win will give them a positive outlook towards the rest of the season.”
The Hatters’ U16s followed suit, too, overcoming their Cheshire counterparts by a 64-54 scoreline.
Eleanor Goodwin was top scorer with 24 points. Scorers: Jo Lowry 18, Courtney Bennett 10 points, Millie Dooley 5, captain Molly Axelby 3, Shauna Harrison 2, Beth Rutherford 2.
