It was ‘Happydale Park’ for Sheffield Hallam as the club won all their five home matches scoring 30 and conceding only 10.
First up were the Men’s fourth team who boosted their Yorkshire Division 1 promotion chances with a 6-1 victory over inter-city rivals Sheffield University Bankers Fourths ... after Bankers had taken a fifth minute lead!
Nick Sims led the way with a hat-trick and others came from Ray Wright, Chris Wilkins and James Harrison.
It was the Fourths six-of-the-best return for the second week in succession and they now face a trip to fourth place Grimsby 1s on Saturday.
The second match featured another hat-trick ace as Helen Burlend took the plaundits as the Women’s third team eclipsed Northallerton 7-1.
Helen Karditsas netted a double and Emily Price and Jay Heath completed the demolition and helped ease their relegation fears in Yorkshire Division 2. Ironically Hallam had only managed three draws up until the previous week’s 3-2 win at Selby.
Their resolve will be tested to the full over the next two weeks as they face Dewsbury and Hull University who are currently second and third respectively.
Surprise, surprise, another hat-trick and another another seven goal tally as the Men’s second team crushed Stockton 7-3.
Joe Bradley was the treble taker while Greg Nolan, Brendan Creed, Adam Harriman and Tom Feasby completed the goal fest which kept Hallam in second place in North Division 1, three points behind Alderley Edge although seven teams are still in with a chance of promotion.
Hallam travel to face Whitley Bay & Tynemouth on Saturday and they’ll have to be on top form as they suffered a 5-0 defeat at Abbeydale earlier in the season.
The women’s second team carried on their improved form - four games unbeaten, with wins over two of the top five in the process - with a 2-1 victory over Wakefield 3.
Wakefield took a first half lead but Hallam literally threw down the gauntlet, with two goals from Sarah Gauntlet to push them up to eighth in the Yorkshire Premier.
Last but not least, the men’s first team played out a 10 goal thriller in a friendly against Doncaster, with hat-trickster David Smith the star of the show. Alex Humphries, Phil Roper and Mike Shaw were the other marksmen.
Hallam restart their National North Conference programme against Leek at Abbyedale on Sunday (2pm).
Away from Abbeydale Hallam had only one victory to cheer about but what a win as the Thirds routed Sheffield University Bankers Thirds 8-0 at Goodwin.
Andy Whiting led the goal fest with a hat-trick and Steve Pitfield helped himself to a double while others came from Tim Baker, Craig Hilton and Tom Oldale.
It could easily have reached double figures, if it wasn’t for a tremendous display from keeper Sam Harrison.
It was sweet revenge for Hallam who were at the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline at Abbeydale earlier in the season.
The win moved them five points clear of Leeds 2 at the top of the Yorkshire Premier Division. They host Halifax at King Ecgbert’s School on Saturday (2pm).
Elsewhere the fifth team lost 1-0 at Doncaster 4s while the Sixths and Sevenths went down to 4-1 defeats against York University 2 (M Harrison) and Brigg 3 (Ben Driver) respectively.
