Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs have confirmed the signing of netminder James Flavell.
Flavell has guested for the Steeldogs during the last two home games, with a baptism of fire against Guildford Flames, followed by a good Steeldogs home win on Saturday to break their four-game losing streak.
A GB International at under-19s level, 24-year-old Flavell moves to the Steeldogs from Billingham where he has spent the majority of his career, apart from some time in America and two years at Whitley Bay.
Steeldogs coach Andre Payette said: “James has been a consistently good goalie over the years and he proved on Saturday against Peterborough that he can help us win hockey games.
“We are really happy to have him on board for the rest of the season and I feel James will give us a chance to win every game.”
Flavell added: “I’m really looking forward to representing the Sheffield Steeldogs. They are a passionate team with some very talented players who work hard for each other every shift.”
Last weekend, Steeldogs beat Peterborough 4-2 but were hammered 9-1 by Manchester Phoenix on Sunday.
This weekend, Steeldogs are at home on both nights - against Bracknell Bees on Saturday and Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday (both 5.30pm).
