Sheffield's Joe Root paid tribute to his England teammates after they regained the Ashes this morning.

England sealed a series success after establishing an unassailable 3-1 series lead over the visiting Australians.

England dominated the fourth Test at Trent Bridge to win by an innings, with Stuart Broad taking eight wickets in Australia's first innings and Root then hitting a superb century as England secured a sizeable lead in their only innings in the game.

And England vice-captain Root, now the world's No.1 ranked Test batsman, said: "It's an amazing feeling and the way the lads played was fantastic.

"I felt good throughout the series and the thing about this team is that everyone has chipped in.

"We haven't just been led by one or two guys, everyone's chipped in throughout the series which has led to these scenes.

"It's a great team to be a part of, thoroughly enjoyable. We'll have an entertaining evening, I'm sure! I can't wait to celebrate with these boys and then crack on in the fifth Test at The Oval."W
