MUTS and Christ Church maintained their places at the top of the JDM South Yorkshire Ladies Rounders League with wins over Rotherham G & MPS respectively.

Tight bowling from Michelle Styring limited Rotherham to just 2½ rounders in their first innings and MUTS replied with four, two of them from Alison Goring.

Corinne Madeley scored 2½ as Rotherham added another 4½ to their first innings total but it was never enough and MUTS eased to an 8-7 victory.

Jody Michalska set Christ Church on the way to a 10½-10 success over G&M with a sparkling four rounders in her team’s first innings tally of 6½ in reply to their rivals’ 2½, two of them from Lauren Brown. She added another and Carly Rowland, better known for her bowling, also bagged one as G&M added another 6½ to leave Christ Church requiring 4½ for victory. They did just that in 17 balls with Rachel Grimes getting the winning half rounder.

Four South Yorkshire players featured in an England Under-14 trip to the Isle of Man which saw two squads come through without losing a match. Ellie Broad and Caitlin Davies-Russell from Dinnington Comprehensive and Olivia Noble and Amy Dennis from Sheffield High School featured on the playing side while Katy Beecher, who plays for G&M and teaches at Portland School, was the Under-14 Development team manager.
