Head coach Andre Payette has targeted a maximum return from Sheffield Steeldogs’ home double-header against Bracknell Bees.
The two clashes at iceSheffield - Saturday (7.30pm) and Sunday (5.30pm) - are critical must-win games in the battle for the last play-off position in the English Premier League.
Steeldogs set themselves up perfectly for the showdown with a comprehensive 6-2 victory at Telford on Tuesday. Man of the Match Kriss Grundmanis and Janis Ozolins were the main points scorers with 2+2, followed by Payette with 1+2 and Lloyd Gibson 1+0, while Ryan Johnson claimed three assists.
The win put them five points clear of Bracknell although that could alter as the Bees take on Swindon Wildcats tonight.
Steeldogs need to shut down the highly effective pairing of the Bees star players, Michael Pinc and Jaroslav Cesky, who have already scored over 50 goals and 85 assists between them this season.
There’s a special ticket offer this weekend for fans attending both games - come to Saturday’s game and buy Sunday’s at half-price. Otherwise games will be at the normal prices and are available to buy on each night, priced adult £8, concession £6, child £3 (Under-8s free) and family £18.
Steeldogs suffered two defeats last weekend, 5-3 to Basingstoke Bison (Ozolins 2 and Lloyd Gibson) and 5-2 to Swindon Wildcats (Steve Duncombe and Ozolins).
