Meths defeat title holders Millhouses

Newcomers to the top division Hollinsend Meths have made a fine start to the season. After last week’s opening win they followed this up by defeating the current league champions Millhouses Works.

Batting first Hollinsend totalled a useful 195 for 9 from their 46 overs, Richard Wadsworth hitting an unbeaten 71, with Brad Simpson taking 5 for 70 for the home side who were then restricted to 138 for 8 (John Woods 65no).

Centralians posted an eight wicket win at newly peomoted Hundall. They restricted the home side to 138 for 8 (Alan Hampshire 43, John Schofield 4 - 31) and reached their target for the loss of two wickets (R Wainwright 48no, M Scholey 42).

There was a close game at the Apperknowle ground where the hosts fell to a 12 run defeat to University Staff. The visitors were all out for 124, with Loughlin again amongst the wickets with 5 for 47 and Apperknowle were then dismissed for 112 (D Needham 5-38)

Hathersage claimed their first win with an excellent performance at the Parkhead ground. They bowled out the home side for 126 and in reply posted a six wicket win, with a score of 130 for 4.

Holmesfield continued their unbeaten start with a seven wicket win at home to De La Salle. The visitors totalled 170 for 7 from their 46 overs (D Rosling 4-49) and the home side replied with 172 for 3, with an unbeaten 70 from Neil Pearson and 40 from David Ward.
