Mixed fortunes for Steelers kids

morgan Buccanon marked his first Sheffield U14s appearance of the season in style with two goals as the Steelers beat their Rochdale counterparts 14-2.

Fit-again Buccanon’s brace saw Steelers race into a 4-0 lead, and were 5-1 up after the first quarter.

Going into half-time leading 9-1, the scoring slowed in the third Q as the Rochdale goal keeper pulled off a series of great stops to keep the score down to 11-1 at the end of the third quarter.

With the Steelers defence well marshalled by Luke Green, Steelers travelled back to Sheffield deserved 14-2 victors.

Steelers’ Under-16 side had no such luck, however, suffering a heavy 16-3 defeat at the hands of Poynton.

By the end of the first quarter Sheffield were only trailing by one at 3-2, but the second quarter was disastrous as they failed to handle the ball successfully.

At half time, they were 10-2 down and they never really recovered from there.

Poynton were unrelenting on the attack in the third quarter, scoring three times but only two-goal Dan Aspin registered a consolation for the well-beaten Steelers.
