Sheffield One Health Sharks begin a tough stretch of matches with a visit to Plymouth Raiders on Saturday night.
A win and a loss last weekend has left them in fifth place in the BBL Championship. Newcastle Eagles, Mersey Tigers and Glasgow Rocks are level on points at the top.
On Friday Sheffield needed a late run to see off Worcester Wolves 93-84 at the EIS.
But a day later they were on the receiving end as former Sharks star James Whyte marked his Leicester Riders debut by inspiring a 21-6 burst, which gave the East Midlands club an 89-85 victory.
Sharks player-coach Atiba Lyons, who recommended Whyte to the Riders, was full of praise for his former colleague:
“James was the difference (in the match) I thought. He’s a great player and he gives Leicester something different.
“When Rob (Paternostro, Riders coach) called me I said he’d be a good fit for them and he proved me right.
“The Riders did a very good job on us. We didn’t play terribly. There were things we could do better defensively but the loss won’t affect our confidence.
“Leicester just got the better of us on the night.”
