Thorncliffe continued their fine start to the campaign after edging Shiregreen by 8 runs in the Ivan Priestley Under-17 division.
Jakob Burgin (50*) and Ryan Stringer (47) compiled a fine partnership as Thorncliffe racked up 129-7 and it would have been more but for the superb bowling of Garth Cooper who took 5-6 from three overs.
Sam Bowden’s 50* set Shiregreen on their way but wickets tumbled at regular intervals around him and the hosts finished short on 121-7.
Sheffield Collegiate crushed Norton Oakes by 10 wickets. Oakes crumbled against the bowling of Alex Varley, whose five-wicket haul ripped the heart out of the middle and lower orders they were sent packing for 49. Collegiate took less than 10 overs to score the necessary runs
Whiston PC outplayed Treeton to win by 98 runs in the Leslie Fletcher Under-17 division. Joe Stickland (50*), Alex Galloway (49) and Anthony Lancashire (40*) piled on the runs as Whiston ran up 159-1. Treeton’s batsmen had no answer to the bowling of James Panek (4-11) and Jerome Grant (3-15) as they were rushed out for 61, Danny Ingram playing a lone hand with 30.
Aston Hall totalled 134-5 at Rotherham Town, wicketkeeper Ben Freer top bat with 50* and Town were limited to 74-8 in reply.
Liam Musselwhite led the way with 44 for Frecheville as they amassed 127-8 (Gareth Coddington 3-5) and Lewis Fairest-Brown then took 3-9 to help bowl Hollinsend out for 61, Jack Mitchell contributing a fine 40.
Harthill, meanwhile, had things all their own way at home to Maltby; limiting the visitors to 74-6, Matty Richardson making 26 and responding with 76-0, of which Ross Sedon compiled 50*
Wickersley hammered Anston in U-15 East after bowling the visitors out for just 35, Jake Askew 4-19 and Joe Barner 3-1 doing the damage as they sealed an eight-wicket triumph. Sheffield Collegiate Blue raced to 154-2 at Hallam B in U-15 South East with Tom Moore (50*), Peter Hill (41) and Matthew Harrison (33*) all in the runs.
Despite the best efforts of Miles Langdale, 53* from 23 balls with seven 4s and three 6s, Harry Simpson took 3-23 as Hallam were restricted to 109-9.
Hallam A eased past Millhouses Works in U-15 Central.
Wasif Amjad stood out for Millhouses with an impressive 55* in a total of 92-9, Jack Herold with 4-10. Shreyas Srivatsa opened the innings with 43* as Hallam got over the line with seven wickets in hand.
