Andre Payette is making his presence felt at Sheffield Steeldogs.
The player-coach has instilled a never-say-die approach in his players and this was evident in the four point return against Bracknell Bees last weekend.
Steeldogs bagged two good wins, 4-1 and 5-4 against the same opponents to retain the eighth play-off position but more importantly put some extra distance between themselves and Bracknell and Telford.
Goals in the first game came from Steve Duncombe, Stuart Brittle, Janis Ozolins and Chris Sykes while the Sunday scorers were Edgars Bebris 2, Scott Morris, Adam Radmall - his first for the club - and Ryan Johnson.
Payette said; “I was so proud of the effort the guys put into the two games. All the guys played fantastically well and despite them running out of steam towards the end, they held on. We are now looking forward to the play-offs at the beginning of April.”
Steeldogs face an away-day double-header at Basingstoke on Saturday and then Guildford 24 hours later. They then have an iceSheffield double against Guildford Flames on Saturday, February 26 (7.30pm) and Swindon Wildcats on the Sunday (5.30pm).
Some players will be at the Kelham Island ‘Skates of Steel’ exhibition next Monday when vice-captain Lloyd Gibson will be talking about ice hockey and the Steeldogs (12.30pm). Visit www.sheffieldsteeldogs.co.uk or www.hawleytoolcollection.co.uk
