Yorkshire return to County Championship action next week after picking up their first T20 victory of the season on Tuesday night at Headingley against Leicestershire.
The Vikings Jack Brooks ran through Leicestershire’s top order inside the first eight overs to put Yorkshire on track for a seven-wicket victory.
The visitors were reeling on 38 for five and although they recovered to 113 for nine it was an insufficient total to unduly worry Yorkshire who reached their target with seven wickets and 19 balls to spare.
Skipper Andrew Gale is out of action for three matches because of a broken hand, Yorkshire were led by Barnsley’s Azeem Rafiq.
An unbeaten fourth wicket stand of 63 by Dean Hodgson (52no) and Gary Ballance (21no) saw the Vikings through to victory.
Tomorrow night Yorkshire head north to take on Durham at the Riverside and then make the short trip to Queen’s Park in Chesterfield to play Derbyshire.
Both matches are in the T20 competition but they will return quickly to Chesterfield on Wednesday to resume their County Championship programme as league leaders with a four-day fixture against bottom of the table Derbyshire.
