Steeldogs coach Andre Payette says two of the best ice hockey players in the country - let alone Sheffield - will be showcased tomorrow night.
Payette is inviting Steelers fans to come to iceSheffield in the absence of any Elite League action to see the likes of Lubomir Korhon and Dalibor Sedlar. The former is a one-time Czech international and 19-season veteran, while the latter is an outstanding goaltender prospect from the same country.
“Lubomir is probably one of the best players in our league,” said Payette in a video on thestar.co.uk, ahead of tomorrow’s iceSheffield clash against Swindon. “He could step in on any team in the Elite League; no question and Dalibor is as good as any goalie in the Elite League too.”
Steeldogs home games tend to include a fight, something Payette sees as part of the enterainment package.
He said: “When there is a fight how many people are standing up (in the crowd)? People like to see it, it’s part of hockey. When you are losing by a couple of goals at home that’s the time for a fight, to try and get the tempo of the game changed.
“Sometimes off a face off, just to get the guys and crowd going.”
Payette added: “Our Sheffield kids grew up together, they went to school together played hockey all the way up; it is quite a unique team.”
