Sheffield Sharks announced today the return of crowd favourite BJ Holmes for a third season with the club.
After positive discussions at the end of the season, the club were swift to come to a contract conclusion that would see the popular point guard take the helm of South Yorkshire’s premier club.
It has been a period of rebuilding and development at the Sharks that has focused on bringing through talents such as Colin Sing and Zach Gachette, and maintaining the core squad has been a priority goal for Atiba Lyons.
“When you are in this position where by you can conceivably maintain a team it is of paramount importance that you can keep your court leaders,” said Coach Lyons.
“Having BJ back was seen as critical for the year ahead to continue to assist with that consistency.”
Leadership within the team has already had a great start with club captain Mike Tuck secured for the season ahead, and seasoned veteran Olu Babalola continuing his return to form within the Yorkshire camp.
Sheffield’s season begins on Friday September 26 with a home match against Durham Wildcats at the EIS.
