Sheffield Tigers: Garrity out to show true worth

Sheffield racer Jason Garrity is looking to make a winning return as the in-form Tigers host Berwick at Owlerton tonight (7.30).

Garrity missed their superb win at Scunthorpe on Sunday after a heavy crash riding for Elite League side Coventry two days earlier.

The all-action youngster has enjoyed a solid albeit unspectacular start to the season and admits he has plenty of room for improvement.

However, he says he is loving life in his first full season in Yorkshire and he is keen to put together a strong run of form – starting as they chase a fourth straight win against the Bandits tonight.

Garrity said: “I’ve been having some problems with my engines.

“I’m still trying to find the right set-up, but I’ve got one engine that’s going well at the moment so I’m using that pretty much everywhere.

“I just need a run of meetings now to try and build up some momentum and put together a good run of form.

“It was a shame last week’s meeting was rained off.

“Hopefully we can pick up where we left off against Berwick and I can have a good meeting, because, even though I’ve been doing okay, I know I can do better at Sheffield.

“We’ve got a really good team this season and we’re enjoying riding together. This is probably the strongest team I’ve been a part of in the Premier League so I want to make the most of that.

“I want to be winning things, and I think I’m part of a team at Sheffield that can do it.”

The return of Garrity means the Tigers will be at full strength, while Berwick hand a British debut to 17-year-old Dutchman Romano Hummel at reserve.
