Perkins backs Hill to arrest Reds slide

BARNSLEY midfielder David Perkins is backing boss Keith Hill to turn around the club’s flagging fortunes.

Perkins is back from injury and relishing the challenge of facing Millwall at the New Den today as the Reds look to end a run of 11 games without a win.

“Nobody wants to see the manager get sacked,” said Perkins. “We’re all working hard on the training pitch. We’re all right behind Keith. Everyone is behind us; we just need to take that on to the pitch on Saturday and get a good result.

“I’m pretty confident we’ll beat the drop, I think everyone is pretty confident.

“We talk about stats a lot, but the best stat of all is winning and getting three points.

“We’re creating the chances, but we need to put them away and keep cleansheets.

“You could say performances aren’t too important right now, we need points and quite a few of them right now.

“No matter how we do it, we’ve got to start picking up points now.”

Midfielders Akoz Buzsaky (hamstring), Jacob Mellis (dead leg), Emile Sinclair (dead leg) and Reuben Noble-Lazarus (ankle) are all unavailable for the Reds.

Millwall boast Barnsley-born and ex-Owls defender Mark Beevers in their ranks.
