SHARKS player-coach Atiba Lyons has set his sights on winning the BBL Play-offs after seeing his side hit form following the signing of Ryan Patton.

A superb second half show against MK Lions last week gave the Sharks their first back-to-back wins since December and has left Lyons urging his team to aim high.

He said: “I’ve said to them I expect to win the play-offs, I expect to playing for it. I don’t just want to get through the season I want to be winning something.

“It’s the BBL so anyone can beat anybody. We have to set our goal and work towards it - that’s our goal right now.We had a change in the roster and we’ve responded brilliantly. The guys spirits are up; guys are coming into practice with some good vibes.

“The season has been tough but we have great chemistry and characters in the squad.”

Lyons has been delighted at the work guard pairing Patton and Jimmy Langhurst have linked up, as well as the emergence of Zach Gachette, who scored 24 points against the Lions.

He also said the return to form of Mike Tuck has been vital: “Tuck’s a battler; he’s a warrior. I know that he’s going to give me 110 per cent.

“His game’s coming back to the level that we’re used to seeing from him. It’s great to see him playing at such a high level.”
