Sheffield schoolchildren got a taste of the London Olympics this week as they helped celebrate Britain’s biggest school sport event of the year.

The English Institute of Sport hosted over 500 children in the Links School Sports Partnership Games on Monday (Y1/2) and Tuesday (Y3) while around 450 Y4 pupils from 10 schools took part in London 201-inspired activities yesterday when they were joined by Paralympic bronze medallist Ade Adepitan and mascot Mandeville.

Eight schools were represented on the opening day and Bradford Dungworth took first place followed by Emmaus and Prince Edwards while on Tuesday, Wharncliffe Side finished top with Emmaus and Nook Lane second and third respectively.

It’s all part of the National School Sport Week in which nearly five million youngsters took part.
