Yorkshire compete in the Inter Counties Championships at Bedford tomorrow and Sunday.

The women, who came second last year, should do well again and include Rotherham’s international sprinter Louise Bloor (Trafford; coached by Tony Antonio Minichiello) who should be a big points scorer in the 100 metres.

The 200 metre place goes to Yorkshire champion Amanda Shaw (Barnsley AC).

Karla Drew (City of Sheffield) should do well in the 100 metres hurdles whilst Lucy Chappell (Doncaster) is rewarded for some consistent performances with a place in high jump.

The Yorkshire men’s team is not as strong, many athletes curtailing their season early.

Howard Wood (City of Sheffield), Yorkshire champion for the last three years, lines up in the 3000 metres steeplechase.
