Sheffield Eagles’ coach Mark Aston won’t risk rushing back into action the first team regulars who are winning their battles for fitness.

He’s reluctant to make changes for the trip to Dewsbury Rams as the Eagles protect a three-point lead at the top of the Championship with four games left. Winger Scott Turner plus back row forwards Duane Straugheir and Mat Garside are close to full fitness. “Scott’s back in full training and available. Matt (shin) and Duane (groin) are still a bit sore but we have to decide if we change things” said Aston.

“The lads weren’t right last week and we have to decide if we risk them too soon.”

Aston was impressive by the win over Leigh Centurions and may keep the same 17 for Sunday. “Against Leigh it was probably our best start for a long time, we had energy and speed. Our kicking game was in the right areas of the field and we put Leigh under a lot of pressure,” he said.
