A Dinnington schoolgirl has been selected for the world cup.
Ella Tweed has been called up by the England and Wales Cricket Board for their Under-19 squad for the indoor world cup in New Zealand in October.
And the Anston Cricket Club member is only 14, though she will have had her 15th birthday by the time the tour party flies out.
In addition to club coaching Ella receives tuition from Nottinghamshire CCC at Trent Bridge.
She represented Notts in the Under-13 girls county championship in 2013 and was the top wicket taker in the country.
She has represented Nottinghamshire girls at both U15 and U17 age group in 2014.
Ella, who has been playing cricket since primary school, plays for Anston Ladies, the club’s fourth X1 which is a mixed team and Anston U15s, which is also a mixed team.
The Dinnington Comprehensive School girl’s parents Howard and Sally say they are thrilled by their daughter’s success and are busy, along with Anston CC, raising the £3,000 needed for the trip
Ahead of the tour, Ella has another important date.
She is helping out at the Anston CC Open Day on Saturday, August 30 at the Ryton Road ground, when taster sessions for youngsters are on offer.
Along with some of the senior coaches, Ella will be available from 10 am to offer free coaching – so any young boys or girls who would like to know more about playing cricket or would like to come for free to this taster session can come along and have a go at cricket in the nets.
