The DBL Sharks Sheffield will be looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they visit Glasgow Rocks tonight.
The Sharks make the long trip north following a split double-header last time out, losing 76-81 at home to Surrey Scorchers before claiming a narrow 57-59 win on the road against Bristol Flyers the following day.
And head coach Atiba Lyons is looking for more consistency from his side after a run of split weekends.
“I’m glad we bounced back and showed a good effort against Bristol after the defeat on Friday,” said Lyons.
“I’m not quite sure what it was against Surrey – a couple of the guys felt they underperformed, but they showed a lot of fight and a good defence carried us through on Saturday.”
Sharks won three and lost two against the Rocks last season, and Lyons is wary of the threat Glasgow pose.
“I’ve watched a bit of Glasgow. They’ve retained a lot of guys so they’ve had continuity, and the players they’ve added have hit the floor running,” said Lyons.
“It’s a lot easier to prepare for one fixture but you never know. We were more focussed against Bristol. We didn’t accept things, made plays were aggressive and it just showed.”
Lyons also stressed that after a disrupted start to the season, new signings are finally on the horizon for the Sharks.
“We should be able to announce a new player soon. Hopefully they’ll be available for the game this week but we’re not sure yet, it’s going to be tight,” said Lyons.
“We’ve got a couple of pieces to add in. Offensively we need some more solid firepower so bringing that in will be good for us.
“We want to get back on the right track. We’ve lost some very winnable games and consistency has to be there.”
