sHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are counting the cost of their FA Cup exit with Reda Johnson collecting his 10th booking of the season last night which means he is suspended for the league games against Exeter and Stevenage.

But manager Gary Megson underlined the fact the promotion campaign has always been the club’s priority though he was disappointed with the way the Owls lost 3-0 at home to Blackpool.

Johnson was booked in the first half and was taken off at half time so there was no risk of him being sent off.

A red card would have meant him being banned for the dismissal while also remaining on nine yellows - and still at risk from suspension under the totting up procedure.

Megson confirmed: “Reda got booked. We didn’t want him getting a red card on top of that. That was the only reason he was taken off. It is a disappointment that we are playing without him now for the next couple of games.”

The Owls boss also said: “We had a great opportunity in the second minute. If that goes in I am not saying the result would have been different but I think our performance would have been. I thought Blackpool looked a class act at times while we looked a bit laboured.

“But everything at this club points us towards being successful in the league which is what we have to try to do.

“We are not strong enough to fight on the fronts of getting good results against Yeovil then Blackpool then hopefully at Exeter. We had to chop and change the team and we weren’t strong enough to take on a good Blackpool team who are fourth in the Championship.”

Megson also explained the omission of Jermaine Johnson, who was not even on the bench: “Arguably he is playing his most consistent football. He has taken over from Ben Marshall. At the moment he has probably got a better scoring ratio than Ben.

“He doesn’t create as many but we need to keep him fit. He has a history of hamstring injuries. We wanted to give him a breather. He played well against Yeovil and he will play at Exeter.”

I went to the game no need for GM to apologise. Blades should be worried about their alleged rapist. Is true that the blades are going to sue. Because, they are unhappy MM was found not guilty

Listen losers its time for your tomorrows fish and chip paper club to join forces with the blades. It makes sense you will get some good crowds and in time you will be as great as The Mighty Pool.

Yep its me steelcityblue. Just like Clark Kent is Superman. Well here I am Steve Ibbotson, wearing my blue & white stripey underpants over my dungarees and an old potato sack for a cape and answering to the super hero name of The Lincolshire Snortbeast, and my accomplice Dobbin, an old shire horse I've been known to anally abuse on many an occasion.

POST 38 U Thick Owl ...Blackpool also had 7 changes, they are all professional footballers no matter what 11 you put on the pitch, you got thrashed in front of 10,000 and no it wasnt me who brought up Tuesday attendances but you were the first one on here when we got beat by Brum and had 17,000 .... As for Huddersfield attendances you are just embarrassing yourself now, Tuesday match and Huddersafield boycotted because of the price and yes you played them on a Saturday and they brought over 4,000 *rolls eyes* ...Can I use your pathetic excuse for our result against Brum that we wanted to concentrate on the League HAHAHAHA Well done DW for putting out a full strength side even though we got beat by Brum whereas Megson should be ashamed and should apologise to the owls fans who did go and paid good money for not giving it a go at home in a replay after you did all the hard work away ....

Post 37 you were lucky to get a replay and your post starts out saying the fans are classless then morphs into the team being classless? I think you're getting a tad excited and you've only beat the little Owls. I had a bit of a soft spot for your dinky club because of your manager but with numpties like you I hope Everton embarrass your full strength squad. You are just like the blunt fans, they recently spent just the one solitary season in the top flight and they too think they're the biggest and best team in the world.

Orangehead... which part of Grange Park do you come from then? or is it Queens Park?.. Anyway how about Barnsley..or Swindon or Oldham or without doubt Wimbledon and even Palace. All been in the Prem all poorly supported and all poorly funded. And, being fair Owen ( I act like Chav Evens ) Oyston is not a pauper... and his son also Now speaking of class.. I have been to many Pool games.. Wembley vs Cardiff and the semi vs Oldham.. both at Oldham and Doomfield Rd your fans are not that sweet you know? Got family on Abbey Rd, Ingleway and E. Park rd .. near Brian \Londons gaff... I worked for the Plastics firm on Preston New Rd also.. I am more Blackpool than you are Satsuma head.. aka BM

CanadaPlank you thicko 7 changes is 7 changes. You kept a winning team for the 4th game and still lost. We erm want to concentrate on the league hence our dismal display..... That sound familiar Muppet? Don't start on attendances for Tuesday games...... Wasn't it you who said you never get good gates for Tuesday games? How many you get on a Tuesday against Huddersfield? Look what we got against the sdame team on a Saturday!!

One thing Blackpool fans experienced last season was the amount of class fans exist in the prem. Top marks went to liverpool who applauded Ollie, the team and then us the fans out of Anfield. Man utd fans were class to, they didnt even cheer when they equalised. Spurs fans were superb, The geordies exceptional. Man City fans were the worst, however they never had class when they were skint so have now become worse with all the money......However Wednesday fans have become THE most classless bunch we have experienced for a long time, seriously our under 12 girls would have beaten you last night you were that outclassed by our 2nd eleven, yet only 1 poster has eluded to that fact. Blackpool reached the promise land on the smallest ever budget and wage bill, and probably the smallest fan base, maybe Oldham had a smaller one?....so any rubbish spouted about our wage bill is just laughable!! ....Now, if there are any class wednesday fans out there then i again wish you all success in your quest to get promoted....the rest can crawl back under your yorkshire stone. Hope you enjoyed last nites masterclass.

Don't forget Harry Rednapp picked up De Canio for a miserly £1.5 million when Paulo got the sulks and refused to play for us after his long ban for shoving the ref.Harry's a real wheeler - dealer, former Whelk stall boy beloved of Stuart Hall; he'll persuade Gareth Bale & Tevez both to trade in their Nationalities in exchange for English passports. I'm putting all my money on Harry getting the England job & Paulo getting the Spurs job within one week. Oh. and Harry's son the ex-footballer Jamie getting a Brylcream advertising deal just to round it off.
