Boss urging United to stay focused

SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson has ordered his players not to lose focus as the League One promotion battle enters a critical phase.

United travel to fellow Championship contenders Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday later this month.

But before their Valentine’s Day visit to the Galpharm Stadium, fourth-placed United must beat Wycombe Wanderers at Bramall Lane on Saturday or risk losing ground on the top two.

“I know it sounds boring but we really are taking things one game at a time,” Wilson said.

“If you don’t do that, if you start looking too far ahead or take other results for granted then you get caught out.

“Every opponent in this division deserves our respect, no matter where they are in the table.

“They are all threats as we and others have already seen at times.

“People are always ready to trip you up.”

United are one place and two points behind Lee Clark’s side while Wednesday, in second, boast a four point advantage.

However, Wilson’s side have played two games less than their Yorkshire rivals.

Meanwhile, United’s Central League Central Division fixture against Walsall today has been postponed due to adverse weather in the Midlands.
